Man falls asleep, strikes tree with car on Davison ELBA TWP. — A 68- year-old Lapeer man told police Wednesday that he fell asleep before his 2005 Chevrolet Malibu slammed into a tree near the corner of Hayes and Davison roads. Witnesses told Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Deputy Theron the Malibu was all over the road before it ran the stop sign on Hayes at Davison and then hit a tree on the west side of the road about 300 feet north of the intersection. Following the 7:01 p.m. crash, a Lapeer County EMS crew took the 68-year-old man to McLaren Lapeer Region with incapacitating injures. — Phil Foley |
