LENARD ALLEN “BUTCH” BENNETT,

LENARD ALLEN “BUTCH” BENNETT, 61, of Brown City, received his angel wings on July 23, 2010 in Marlette Regional Hospital after a long illness with family by his side. He was born on February 15, 1949 in North Branch to Charles and Margaret Bennett. Lenard married Sandra K. Hayward on April 15, 1967 in Marlette.

He was a dedicated employee at Brown City Community Schools for 30 years. He always took pride in his job. After retiring his days were spent at “the Farm” where he would garden, farm the land and take care of his animals. Butch also loved to spend time in his greenhouse, where he would relax and grow beautiful flowers for everyone to enjoy. His biggest love was his family. Many times he spent giving hayrides and having cookouts. He would do anything to make them smile, including singing Jambalaya and Sugar in the morning to the grandkids and great-grandkids while bouncing them on his knee. Butch had a big heart and will be greatly missed by his family and the community.

Butch is survived by his wife, Sandra Bennett; sons, Ron (Carie) and Lenny (Wendie); four daughters: Kelly (Tim), Missy, Kristi and Terri; mother, Margaret Bennett; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bennett; brothers: Pete and Gary Bennett and his beautiful granddaughter, Kayla Cain.

At his request, no funeral services will be held. The Family will be having a Memorial Dinner Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Peck Legion Hall from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Cremation has taken place arrangements by Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th Street, Port Huron.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Kayla Cain Memorial Scholarship Fund.
