DOROTHY J. ANNIBAL,

DOROTHY J. ANNIBAL, 92, a lifetime Lapeer area resident, died on Monday, June 21, 2010. She was born on March 21, 1918 in North Branch on the family farm to William F. and Mary E. (Duperow) Scott.

Dorothy graduated from Lapeer High School, Class of 1936. She worked over 40 years at the First National Bank of Lapeer, retiring in 1983. Dorothy was an avid sports fan and enjoyed volunteering and traveling. Mrs. Annibal was a dedicated member of the Monroe Street Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church since 1943; she helped with the MOPS program and many other church activities. Dorothy was a member of the Lapeer Business and Professional Women’s Club. In recognition of her dedication to the church, community and the women’s club she was honored with the local organization’s Woman of the Year Award and the state’s Woman of Achievement Award. Mrs. Annibal was a member of the Suncrest Auxiliary, working with the patient activities as well as with fund-raising programs. She volunteered for Lapeer Regional Hospital and the American Red Cross.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, James (Yvonne) Manley of Ypsilanti, Susan (Paul) Legaj of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Lotus Young of Perrysburg, Ohio, Kathleen (James) Parkinson of Grayling, Jennifer (Henry) Brockman of Grand Blanc and Roland Scott of North Branch; and several great nieces and nephew and greatgreat nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Mary E. Scott; sisters, Beatrice Manley, Mileta Taylor; twin brother, Donald Scott; sister-in-law, Alice Scott; brothers-inlaw, Francis Manley and Thomas C. Taylor.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church of Lapeer.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer. Rev. Ralph H. Pieper, II officiated. Burial took place in Stiles Cemetery, Lapeer.
