Medical marijuana events planned in county

LAPEER COUNTY — As medical marijuana slowly becomes a little more mainstream, events are starting to pop up around it.

On this summer’s schedule of events at the Eastern Michigan Fairgrounds is the Medical Marijuana and Alternative Medicine ExtravaGanja set for August 21 and 22.

The ExtravaGanja will include educational speakers, growing experts, live music and a medication tent. The event is open to the public and is sponsored by Big Daddy’s Hydro in Oak Park.

Later this month, the Compassionate Care Center of Michigan and Big Daddy’s Hydro are hosting a medical gourmet banquet. The menu includes both medical and non-medical cuisine. Appropriate ID will be required for medical cuisine.

The event is being planned for May 22 at an indoor facility at General Squier Park in Dryden Township. One hundred tickets will be sold at $25 each. Tickets are available at the Compassionate Care Center of Michigan in Dryden, or call 810-375- 2023.

Lapeer County hosts a monthly Compassion Club meeting. Check out their page through the MMMA website at www.michiganmedicalmarijuana. org
