Hitting and pitching instruction are also available from Matt Jones, who currently serves as the LakeVille varsity baseball coach, in addition to his role as an assistant coach at Mott Community College. Until May, the store is open from 3-8 p.m. during the week, Saturdays 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sundays 12-6 p.m., and has hitting leagues and equipment for sale. It’s all about the ducks

CARO — Tuscola County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited banquet takes place March 19 at the Caro Knights of Columbus Hall. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Evening includes a buffet dinner, raffles, door prizes, and silent, as well as live, auctions. For $250 become an official Ducks Unlimited Sponsor that includes DU membership, a ticket to the banquet, recognition in the banquet program, entry into the sponsor-only raffles, and an annual DU framed print. IMLAY CITY — In the Sundowners league at Cedar Lanes, MDT Enterprises still maintains its position at the top of the leader board. Randi Powe took women’s high game honors with a 222 while Tonya Gass rolled the women’s high series with 592. Alphabet Carpentry rolled a 2,926 to earn the team high series. — E.H.

Men’s basketball tournament

LAPEER — The Lapeer Community Center will be hosting a 4-on-4 men’s basketball tournament for adults and upper level high school players. Registration runs through May 31 with the tournament being held on June 19-20. Five man roster limit with a fee of $85 per team. — E.H.


Annual Jr. Day Camp on tap

LAPEER — Golfland on Lake Nepessing Rd. is once again offering its 14th annual Jr. Day Camp for kids ages 8-15. The camp will teach the mechanics of golf in a simplified, uncomplicated way, while touching on golf etiquette and improving each student’s game based on their skill level. The five-week camp offers friendly competition and prizes each week, with the final two weeks taking place at the Lapeer Country Club. Camp will run June 15, 22, 29, July 6 and 13. The first three Tuesdays will take place at Golfland from 8:30-10:30 and the last two dates at the Lapeer Country Club from 8- 10 a.m. Cost is $65 and class size is limited. LAPEER — Lake Nepessing Golfland is offering a pre-season golf academy for kids in grades 4-10 to help them improve their game, or make it to the next level. Certified instructors will lead the kids through the academy with class sizes limited to around 15 students. The Academy takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 20, 22, 27, 29, with kids in grades 4- 6 learning from 5:30-6:30 p.m., while kids in grades 7-10 hit the links from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Golfland is at 1125 Lake Nepessing Rd. — L.P.

Adult soccer league

LAPEER — An adult 6-on-6 soccer league is being formed. Registration runs through June 7 with games beginning on June 14. Games are played once or twice a week with and finish with a tournament to determine the champs. Team fee is $100. Details: 810-664-4431. — E.H.
