Deadline nears for school board hopefuls

LAPEER COUNTY — The deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. for anyone who hopes to run for a spot on one of the three school districts in the county that will elect school board members on May 4.

Districts with May elections include Dryden for a four-year seat that will expire in June 2014 (held by David Drexler), Imlay City for two seats that will run through June 2014 (Elizabeth Murawski and Mike Juip) and a partial term that will run until June of 2012 (Ann Marie Giglio) and Lapeer Community Schools for fouryear terms that will run through June 2014 (Peggy Bush and John Nugent).

In Dryden petitons need from four to six singatures. In Imlay City and Lapeer, petition must contain from 40 to no more than 100. A $100 fee can be paid in lieu of a petition.
