Phillip Harley Powell

Lapeer

Phillip Harley Powell, 72, a lifetime Lapeer area resident, passed away Monday (October 26, 2009).

He was born July 25, 1937, in Lapeer, to Harley and Lena (Hill) Powell. He married Marsha Ihrke on August 4, 1989 in Lapeer.

Mr. Powell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1992, after working over 30 years for Pontiac Motors. Phil was a member of the Lapeer Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion Post #16. He loved golf, football, bowling and any outdoor activity including yard games, gardening, horseshoes, swimming and softball.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Powell of Lapeer; children, Phyllis (Steve) Coulter of Lum, Jennifer (Ken) LaLond of Lum, Theresa Powell of Lum, Tim (Gary) Dow of Columbiaville and Trinia Hunter of Lapeer; grandchildren, Patty, Rachel, Denny, Shane, Tyson and Justin; great-grandchild, Kadan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Powell; mother, Lena Powell; stepson, Bobby Hunter; sister, Beulah Charter.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.

Funeral services were held Thursday (October 29, 2009) at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Elder Berniece Abbe officiated. Burial took place in Dawn Memorial Cemetery, Lapeer.
