Whoa!

ELBA TWP. — A motorist in a blue truck, pulling a horse trailer, broke down in a construction zone Oct. 26 just east of mile marker 154 on I-69. The motorist told Central Dispatch that traffic was frightening the horse and it was trying to kick its way out of the trailer. A tow truck was dispatched and police notified.

I brake for brown

BURNSIDE TWP. — A Stiles Road resident told Central Dispatch Oct. 26 that there were brown cows in the road east of M- 53.

Identity theft

LAPEER TWP. — A North Wilder Road man told the Lapeer Township Police Oct. 26 that someone used his girlfriend identification to open accounts.

Bad dig

DEERFIELD TWP. — A North Lapeer Road man told Central Dispatch Oct. 26 that he broke a gas line with a hand-held post hole digger. A Consumers Energy repair crew arrived within a half hour.

Lab found

MAYVILLE TWP. — A Millville Road man told Central Dispatch Oct. 26 that he found a yellow lab with no tags near Moore’s Market. He took the dog to Animal Control.


Hunt with care

OREGON TWP. — A German road woman told Central Dispatch Oct. 26 that shot rained down all over the tree in her yard after someone shot at geese flying overhead. The woman said she and her dog were outside at the time. Deputies spoke with the neighboring hunter.

Moped swiped

ATTICA TWP. — A Hunters Creek Road man told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 26 that thieves took his 1998 Honda Elite 50 moped from his driveway.

Unsportsmanlike

MARATHON TWP. — A LeValley Road man told Central Dispatch Oct. 26 the occupants of a red Chevrolet pickup were shining deer near the corner of North Lake Road Columbiaville roads.

Shot fired

LAPEER — A North Madison Street woman told Lapeer City Police Oct. 27 she heard a single gunshot coming from the North Main Street area as she was putting her dog out.

S-10 stolen

NORTH BRANCH TWP. — A Burnside Road woman told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 27 that she had a black 1989 Chevrolet S-10 pickup for sale in front of her house last night. This morning it was gone.

Thief nabbed

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City Police took someone into custody at Imlay City High School Oct. 27, citing them with breaking into cars.

Bad spot to graze

NORTH BRANCH TWP. — A Deerfield Township man told Central Dispatch Oct. 27 that there was a large cow in the middle of Burnside Road. He said there were two others off the side of the road. Animal Control was notified.

Bad trade

IMLAY TWP. — A Blacks Corners Road man told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 27 that vandals destroyed his mailbox. The man said he found car parts and clothing.

Laptop is gone

LAPEER — An employee at The Chatfield School told Lapeer City Police Oct. 27 that thieves took a walkie-talkie and laptop computer last Wednesday.

House hit

OREGON TWP. — A billing service employee told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 27 that she found a bullet hole in a Klam Road home’s window frame. She said it looked like a .22-caliber bullet. Tuneless

LAPEER — An East Street woman told Lapeer City Police Oct. 27 that her iPod was stolen the week before. There is a suspect.

Foiled break-in

LAPEER — A spokesman for Genesys Lapeer Family Medicine told Lapeer City Police Oct. 27 that someone tried to set fire to the wood chips in front of the North Main Street building and tried to kick in a door.

Rolling along

DEERFIELD TWP. — A motorist told Central Dispatch Oct. 27 that three teens in a muddy brown Dodge car on North Lapeer Road near West Castle Road were rolling joints.

Dog injured

LAPEER — A motorist told Central Dispatch Oct. 27 there was an injured black lab in the turning lane on Davison Road near the Polar Palace.

Purse stolen

LAPEER — A Pine Street woman told the Lapeer City Police Oct. 27 that thieves took her purse from her unlocked car within the hour.

Sign not heeded

COLUMBIAVILLE — A village Dept. of Public Works employee told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 27 that an older white car ran over the stop sign on the corner of Water and First streets and never stopped. Sheriff’s deputies stopped a white Buick near the bridge on Marathon Road.

Stalker spotted

MAYFIELD TWP. — A Valentine Road man told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 28 that a man wearing white sneakers and a dark hoodie tried to get into his childrens’ bedroom and then ran off into the woods. He said the dog was barking at the bedroom window, and when he pulled back the curtain there was a man there.

Nails found

BURNSIDE TWP. — A Deanville Road man told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 28 that he’s had an ongoing problem with his neighbors reporting his horses are loose and now nails have been dumped at the end of his driveway.

Road washout

DRYDEN TWP. — A caller told Central Dispatch Oct. 28 that west side of the 3800 block Thornville Road was washing out. The Lapeer County Road Commission was notified.

Check stolen

OREGON TWP. — A Millville Road woman told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 28 that a check was stolen from her home.

Threats reported

LAPEER — A handicapped Chinkapin Trail man told Lapeer City Police Oct. 28 that a pair of men have been driving past his home, threatening him.

Hungry animals

ALMONT TWP. — An anonymous called told Central Dispatch Oct. 28 that a home near Sutton and Blacks Corners roads has horses, chickens and dogs in pens and they all look like they’re starving. Animal Control was notified and Almont Police offered to accompany them.

Mailbox felled

ELBA TWP. — A Lake Nepessing Road man told Central Dispatch Oct. 28 that someone drove over his mailbox the night before. He said he found tire tracks and bits of blue plastic car parts.

Sign damaged

ELBA TWP. — A Oregon Road man told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 28 that vandals spray painted the sign for his farm.

Angus on the road

OREGON TWP. — A LeValley Road man told Central Dispatch Oct. 29 that there were black Angus cows on Bronson Lake Road near Skinner Lake Road and it was foggy. Animal Control was notified.
