Marvin Johnson

Marvin Johnson, 75, of Clifford (formerly of Lapeer) passed away Tuesday (October 27, 2009) at his home in Clifford.

He was born October 14, 1934, in Clifford, the son of the late Claude and Mabel (Robinson) Johnson. He graduated from Kingston High School.

Marvin served his country in the U.S. Marines in Korea 1953 to 1956. He married Bertha Sawgle on September 25, 1978 in Lapeer. She has preceded him in death.

Mr. Johnson work at Pontiac Motors for 30 years until his retirement. He was member of U.A.W. in Pontiac and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette. Marvin enjoyed to travel, visiting with friends and most of all, his family.

He is survived by his stepson, Ken (Chris) Kelch of Appleton, Wis.; stepgrandchildren, Ken (Joyce) Kelch of Neenah, Wis., Sam (Katie) Kelch of Neenah, Wis., Casey Kelch of Appleton, Wis., and Nathan Wickersheim of Menasha, Wis.; sister, Shirley Woern of Mayville; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha; brothers, William, Norman, Jack, Harry and Daniel; sister, Betty New.

Memorials may be donated to United Hospice Service of Marlette.

Funeral services were held Friday (October 30, 2009) at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette. Rev. Eric Kilmer officiated. Burial was in the Watertown Twp Cemetery in Fostoria, with full military honors.
