Group home worker attacked ATTICA TWP. — An employee at a group home on Larson Road told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Oct. 26 that a resident hit her in the face about 6:30 a.m. The woman said she went in to the 6-foot-4, 240-pound man’s room to check on him and he began swearing at her. Then, she said, the man hit her in the head. She told deputies she was alone, with three residents in the home including her attacker; She said she locked herself in the bathroom and her head was pounding from the attack. The victim said her attacker was a 27-yearold, paranoid schizophrenic. The woman said the man has been verbally abusive with staff in the past, but has never struck anyone before. This time, she said, he was screaming at the voices he hears. Deputies noted the man has an unspecified Flint arrest warrant with a $500 bond. They took the woman to the emergency room. — Phil Foley |
