LCS hosts enrichment classes for the community Education and recreation at Lapeer Community Schools is more than just about young people. The district, through its enrichment catalog, offers a variety of programs to the community. The popular senior fitness program meets Monday and Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. in the new Lapeer Community High School gymnasium at the Cramton campus, 1220 Lake Nepessing Road in Elba Township. Cost of the program is $60, or for seniors 60 and older within the Lapeer District, the class is $40 with the Lapeer Gold Card. The fall program ends on Nov. 18, but is scheduled to return in the winter. Starting Monday, Nov. 2, the free winter walking program begins at Lapeer West High chool from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, except during holiday weeks and on “snow days.” The program continues through Thursday, March 25. For further information on this program or the “closed” days, contact the LCS Enrichment Office at 810-538-1622. Please do not call Lapeer West about this program. A Snowmobile Safety Certification class is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6-9 p.m. at Rolland- Warner Middle School. The snowmobile class is a home-study course with classroom follow-up. A Michigan Snowmobile Safety Certificate, which allows persons 12 years of age and older to operate a snowmobile without adult supervision, will be awarded to students who successfully complete the course and pass a written test. Pre-registration for this course is required. The deadline to register for the course is Wednesday, Nov. 25. Cost is $25 per person, or two people from the same household for $45.
