Great Choices student film festival on tap

BYRON CENTER — Mi-chigan high school students are being invited to participate in the second annual Meijer Great Choices Student Film Festival.

The film fest is a way for student filmmakers and audio/video students to showcase their talent while helping other students.

Participants must submit a 30-second public service announcement promoting positive choices in the areas of character education, healthy lifestyle and/or celebrating diversity. Films can be geared to kindergarten through sixth grades or seventh through twelfth grades.

The deadline is Feb. 15.

Audio/visual students and professors from Michigan Universities will be the preliminary judges. The top three winners from each category will receive prizes of $2,000, $1,000 or $500 in the form of a gift certificate to a merchant of their choice (Meijer, Apple or Dell). There will be 18 total winners.
