Flag football jamboree a success

LAPEER — In the annual Lapeer Community Schools Flag Football season ending jamboree that took place under the big lights at Lapeer West last Saturday, the Chatfield Dolphins defeated the Mayfield Tigers, 8-2, to win the 40th Annual Lapeer Flag Football Super Bowl.

This year was the second year all the teams in the elementary school league, designed for fifth and sixth graders, were included on the final day of activities so the cheerleaders and players could play on the high school field. In the consolation game, Seaton shut out Murphy, 12-0, to claim third place.

In consolation games, Maple Grove defeated Dryden, 24-6, Bishop Kelley beat Schickler, 14- 13, and Lynch tied Turrill, 12-12.

The season-ending banquet will be held this Thursday for all coaches and referees. The winner of the team Sportsmanship Award will also be announced at that time.
