Basement fire snuffed out

ALMONT TWP. — A Scotch Settlement Road resident told the Almont Fire Dept. Sept. 10 that they had a small fire in their basement. The caller said the fire was out, but they wanted firefighters to check that it hadn’t gotten into the wall.

Woman arrested after traffic stop

MAYFIELD TWP. — Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies took a woman into custody Sept. 10 following a traffic stop for expired plates on Suncrest Drive after they discovered she was being sought on a warrant charged with driving while license suspended.

Vehicle gone

METAMORA TWP. — A caller told the Metamora Township Police Dept. Sept. 10 that she was arrested on West Dryden Road and when she returned to recover her vehicle, it was gone.

Items missing

OREGON TWP. — A Zemmer Road resident told Central Dispatch Sept. 10 that their money, debit card, WIC card and food stamps were all missing. There is a suspect.

Man arrested for exposing himself in yard

NORTH BRANCH TWP. — Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies took a man into custody Sept. 10 after a Five Lakes Road woman told them the man was naked and masturbating in her backyard.

The woman’s husband chased the man into the woods and held him until deputies arrived.

Mower stolen

LAPEER — A South Court Street resident told the Lapeer City Police Dept. Setp. 10 that thieves made off with their lawn mower.

Car fire on I-69

ELBA TWP. — A motorist told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Sept. 10 that their 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass caught fire while headed east on I-69 near mile marker 149. A passing motorist put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.

Change stolen from jar at home

OREGON TWP. — A Sandpiper Drive resident told Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Sept. 10 that $40 went missing from his change jar last week and this week half the jar’s contents disappeared.

Bees swarm at court house

LAPEER — A caller told the Lapeer City Police Dept. Sept. 10 that bees were swarming around the court house pavillion. A bee keeper told police they were yellow jackets and couldn’t be removed.

Radio, speaker taken from pickup

LAPEER — A caller told the Lapeer City Police Dept. Sept. 10 that thieves took the radio, speaker and amp from their 1992 Ford Explored being stored on DeMille Road. Road damaged

ATTICA TWP. — A caller told Central Dispatch Sept. 10 that the edge of Newark Road near Birch Road appears to be sinking as a result of rain damage to a culvert.

The road commission was notified.

Boy attacked by teens on bike path

COLUMBIAVILLE — A Third Street resident told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Sept. 10 that three teens attacked their son while he was at the bike path. The caller told deputies the suspects know their son can’t fight back because he’s on probation.

Dog strays into neighbor’s yard

MAYFIELD TWP. — A Cherokee Trail resident told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Sept. 10 that the neighbor’s German shepherd was in their back yard.

The caller said the animal had an electronic collar on it, but apparently it doesn’t work.

Pickup truck catches fire

LAPEER — A caller told the Lapeer Fire Dept. Sept. 10 that a Ford F-150 pickup was engulfed in flames near Murray’s on South Main Street.

Loud party lands man in jail

LAPEER — Lapeer City police took a man into custoday at a Raliegh Avenue home on a warrant charging him with contempt of court. Sept. 10 after a caller complained about a loud party. The man was later released after posting a $205 bond.

Man arrested on probation violation

LAPEER — Lapeer City police took a man into custody Sept. 11 at an Imlay City Road resident.

The man was being sought by the Michigan State Police on a probation violation warrant for an earlier conviction of dangerous drug use.

Bush ablaze

LAPEER — A caller told the Lapeer City Fire Dept. Sept. 11 that a bush was on fire next to The Mattress Place on South Main Street.

Thieves siphon gas from car

ELBA TWP. — A Hunt Road resident told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Sept. 11 that thieves siphoned their gasoline.

Mom claims daughter molested

GOODLAND TWP. — A Cade Road resident told Central Dispatch Sept. 11 that her 6-year-old daughter was moletested by a 19-yearold staying with her ex-husband in St. Clair County.

— Phil Foley Converter stolen from vehicle

ATTICA TWP. — A Newark Road resident told the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept. Sept. 11 that thieves took the catalytic converter and stereo from their car.
