On Sunday we reported on the passing of Alma Hadley, and we thought it dutiful to remember and acknowledge the work and passion behind her life and what she stood for.

Hadley, 93, died Tuesday. Prosecutor Byron Konschuh said she was “the mother of Lapeer,” a warm sentiment to read over Mother’s Day weekend.

Cartoon wasn’t funny

As a person of weight I didn’t find your cartoon Sunday to be funny at all. Not everyone is the size of a runway model, in fact most people aren’t. But that doesn’t give you the right to make fun of fat people.

• Accidents kept doctors busy this week. In Attica Township, 3-year-old Elizabeth Murphy miraculously escaped injury when a 400-pound tractor tire fell on her as she and friend Aaron Siple, 6, played in her yard.
